I think you're mistaken about the picture in teh darker shirt being blue, with a "reversed flag". Orthochromatic film often shows yellow as a dark grey, and blue (no matter how dark) as a pale grey. The flag colours would not have been reversed, and I believe that the darker shirt picture is still yellow, and the flag blue with a yellow cross.
